ARMM Aggie Reg’l Sec. Druz Ali Leads Hybrid Rice FLE Techno Demo – November 15, 2005

ARMM Regional Secretary Sajid Sangki Druz Ali led the Crop Cutting of Hybrid Rice Techno Demo at Paulino Labio, Kabuntalan, Maguindanao.

Assisting Secretary Druz Ali were DAF-ARMM Director for Field Operation and BFAR OIC Director Keise Tan Usman, DA-Maguindanao Provincial Agricultural Officer Dr. Salik B. Panalunsong DAF-ARMM Rice Report Officer Edna Bajao, Bo. Chariman Fermin Labio, Representative of Dr. Rodolfo Escabarte of Philrice and Farmer Led Extensionist Lagrimas Labio.

PAO Panalunsong said that the techno demo was implemented by Department of Agriculture-ARMM for the past four months and serve as the practicum site of the thirty (30) farmers who participated in the season long Farmers Field School (FFS).

ARMM Agri-Fisheries Shifts To High Gear - November 14, 2005

The new leadership of the Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (ARMM) has launched “a package of strategies toward resource mobilization, expenditure prioritization, and capacity building to increase the contribution of agriculture and fishery sector to the output of the regional economy.”

This thrust was given heavy emphasis by Regional Governor Datu Zaldy Uy Ampatuan in his first State of the Region Address (SORA) delivered on November 14, 2005 before the members of the Regional Legislative Assembly, the five Provincial Governors and their leagues, members of the diplomatic community, the cabinet, the academe, civil society and the military.

The Regional Governor outlined and ordered strategic but doable actions to lift ARMM’s agri-fisheries sector toward a higher level of productivity. These involve not only area expansion but more engagements in value-adding through processing for the local and export markets.

Consultants Visit ARMM For MRDP Phase II Preparation - November 14, 2005


The Department of Agriculture and Fisheries-ARMM and other Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao Officials met with BCEOM consultants and Department of Agriculture Central Office Officials on November 14, 2005 at DAF-ARMM Livestock Multipurpose Hall. The group composed the preparation for the implementation of the Mindanao Rural Development Program Phase II.

The team was led by Mr. Paul Lightfoot of BCEOM, MRDP Officers and PCO Officer-in-Charge Arnel de Mesa and Head Technical Consultant Dr. Ricardo Gloria.

ARMM Governor Datu “Puti” Uy Ampatuan was represented by Atty. Oscar Sampulna during the consultation.

BIRD-FLU Alert Raised; ARMM Task Force Organized - November 8, 2005

The Department of Agriculture in the Autonomous Regions in Muslim Mindanao (DA-ARMM) had their ‘sirens on’ starting November against the possible outbreak of the deadly Avian Influenza (AI) in the region.

ARMM Extension Workers And Farmer-leaders Train On Aflatoxin - October 26-28, 2005

Around sixty (60) Agricultural Extension Workers and Farmer-leaders from the provinces of Lanao del Sur and Maguindanao attended the Trainers Training on the Prevention and Control of Aflatoxin at Biton Garden and Convention Center, Cotabato City on October 26-28, 2005.

DAF-ARMM Director for Field Operation Keise Tan Usman said that the training aims to equip the participants on the different programs and activities to prevent and control the occurrence of the poisonous aflatoxin in corn to achieve competitiveness in the market.

The corn product may be contaminated by aflatoxin due to immature harvesting, improper post harvest handling and storage, resulting to poor quality and low price of the products in the market, Dir. Usman added.
