Maximizing Investments In Basilan

The RBOI-ARMM organized a stakeholder's meeting on March 5, 2012 in Sta Clara, Lamitan City with Brain Trust Inc. (BTI) Chairman also Economic Consultant to ARG Mujiv S. Hataman, Mr. Cielito Habito and BTI President, Ms. Ela Antonio to discuss on investment opportunities in the Province of Basilan. Aside from RBOI-Chairman/Managing Head, Mr. Sakiran Hajan, representatives from other agencies also came in the meeting, namely from the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI), Department of Agrarian Reform (DAR), Department of Agriculture and Fisheries (DAF) , Sta. Clara Agrarian Reform Beneficiaries Integrated Development Cooperative (SCARBIDC) and Basilan Electric Cooperative (BASELCO).

One of the investment potentials identified was rubber which actually made the economy of Basilan dynamic. A total of 36,000 hectares of productive rubber farms existed in said Province. It was discussed during the meeting how to fully utilize rubber to its full economic potential...

PIPP TWG Meeting At SBMA

 

Once again, the Philippine Investments Promotion Plan (PIPP) Technical Working Group where the RBOI-ARMM is an active member, convened on December 12, 2011 and this time, it was hosted by the Subic Bay Management Authority at the SBMA Board Room, Bldg. 229, Waterfront Road, Subic Bay Freeport Zone.

Hon. Roberto V. Garcia, Chairman and Administrator of SBMA welcomed the TWG Members, and called to order the meeting. He said that he is pleased to host the TWG meeting for its significance and timely collaboration work on investments promotion under the program PIPP, and that this is an opportune time for the country to lure huge projects from Chinese and Taiwanese investors especially in shipping and maritime due to the change in demographics in China as their labor cost is now high.

ARMM RECORDS P1.6 BILLION INVESTMENTS FOR 2011

 

COTABATO CITY, December 20, 2011. In its annual accomplishment report, the Regional Board of Investments of the Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (RBOI-ARMM) reported that for the first time ARMM private investments exceeded the one-billion peso mark in 2011.

The value of investments registered with the RBOI from January 2011 to December 2011 is Php 1,656.24 billion. The P1.5 billion telecommunications project of EA Trilink Corp., a regional telecommunications company based in Marawi City with franchise from the ARMM Regional Assembly, was responsible for the single-biggest investment in the ARMM to date. Their project was registered in the second quarter of 2011.

During the third quarter of the year Matling Industrial and Commercial Corporation registered their P23.90 million project in Malabang, Lanao Del Sur for the modernization and expansion of their cassava starch factory by putting-up a biomass power plant.

U.S. Civil Affairs Team 351 In La Frutera, Inc.


 

They were met by Datu Abubakar "Totoy" Paglas of Paglas Corporation, Mr. Jose Agoilo, Jr. (Production Manager of LFI), Mr. Edwin Ledesma (Comptroller of LFI) and some staff from the La Frutera, Inc.

The purpose of their visit is, for them to learn from successful business leaders and models on development best practices in conflict-affected areas as well as the range of the company's corporate social responsibility programs.

The U.S. Civil Affairs Team 351 served as liaison between the military and the civilian sector and their mission is to bridge the divide between the government and the people in conflict-affected areas so that they may facilitate peace and development. The team was headed by Lieutenant Colonel Edmund Oliveros ,U.S. Army (CAT)- 351.
